Johnny J Blair’s Album ‘I Like the Street’ Now Available!

Check out the new album, ‘I Like the Street’ by Johnny J Blair. The press release is below. It was a lot of fun to produce the art for this record.

Winchester, VA (mi2n) October 25, 2011 — U.S. independent label Wampus Multimedia introduces ‘I Like the Street,’ the new album from Pennsylvania “singer at large” Johnny J Blair.

‘I Like the Street’ wanders the nocturnal big city, plumbs the vagaries of the heart, and ultimately returns home to an intersection of music and spirit. With nods to Lou Reed, Roxy Music, and ’60s spy movies, Blair infuses his urban noir with a disarming sense of hope and optimism. ‘Sure, it’s bleak,’ he seems to say. ‘But it’s going to be OK.’

“I don’t always know what I intend when I start a record,” Blair says. “For me, recording is like breathing, traveling, drinking… a calling. You just keep doing it and results ensue. What I do with the results is another story.”

From the postmodern spy vamp, “If I Could Dress Like Clive Owen,” to the overt Velvets tip of the hat, “What Goes On,” Blair measures the heart-pounding rhythms of the urban downtown, using the title track, which cannily catalogs a few of his favorite things, as context. By the time he’s finished, we begin to understand why people gravitate toward the dark mysteries of life in the big city.

‘I Like the Street’ joins a Wampus Multimedia roster that includes recent and imminent releases from Arms of Kismet, The Crowd Scene, tvfordogs, the matthew show, Big Bus Dream, The May Bees, and Kowtow Popof, as well as popular tributes to Jonathan Richman, Lou Reed, and Warren Zevon.

Wampus Multimedia is an independent media label run by artists, for artists. Its credo is simple: to introduce the world to bold content rendered by visionary artists. It is home to a growing roster from a variety of genres, including pop, AAA, Americana, alternative, ambient, blues, and folk.

‘I Like the Street’ is available at Amazon, CD Baby, iTunes, and many other outlets.

Oh Howard, how could you?

After 23 years of symbolizing coffee and after being ripped off countless times, the Starbucks logo has changed. As a casual Starbucks fan, prior to this re-design, I couldn’t have told you what artwork was inside the green circle. Now the “Siren” is taking center stage. Check out the link for more.
